Isaan Trip: Days 5 & 6 – Udon Thani

Didn’t expect much from this stop except to talk to expats about the pros and cons of living here. Turned out better than that.

I’m staying in the city center and traffic is not a problem. Few buildings are over 4 stories, exceptions include the mall and hospital. The air quality doesn’t bother me, thought that might be a problem with the town size. One source says 250k, another two say 142k, so who knows how many are here.

There are three night markets within one block and it’s easy walking distance from my hotel. Drained a battery shooting at a lakeside temple. Glad I got there before it was too hot. Rounding out the treats was Isaan food cooked by and for Isaan people. Today I’m off to Nong Khai, last stop before taking a sleeper train home.
