Isaan and English

All of the foreigners who live here that I talked with either had a Thai wife or Thai language skills beyond basics or both. It would be frustrating, inefficient and limiting to live anyplace I didn’t know a few thousand words of the language and enough of the locals didn’t know basic utility English. There is no need for Thai language in Hua Hin and some of the other towns and cities I’ve been.

Yeah, I knew this before the trip. But its been so long since I’ve experienced a day to day language barrier that it seemed like a good motivator to either start learning Thai or take my Spanish to the next level.
