Contestant number 1 was a Thai driver. He was turning right into a tight parking space, with a pole on the right hand side of the space and a car encroached into the left side of the space.
Contestant number 2 was a security guard. He was looking at the left side of the car being parked, giving verbal and hand signal information as the driver inched forward. Remember, they drive on the left here, so the driver is sitting on the right side of the car.
Contestant number 3 (me) was sitting astride a scooter on the other side of the street, putting on a helmet in preparation to leave. Had a clear view of the pole and right side of the car.
With driver and guard focused on the left side of the car I waited until the right side was about 2 inches away from the pole before I said something and gestured to the impending side swipe. Guard saw the problem, told driver to stop, flashed me a smile with a head nod. As I started my bike the driver reversed straight back and used the pole to knock off his own right side mirror.
Not knowing who would be considered culpable, I hit the gas and got out of there.
