Impressions of Hoi An

Great place to visit for those who want a walkable tourist district composed of small buildings, narrow lanes, colorful decay, streets free of motor vehicles and many charming buildings converted into shops, bars and restaurants. And who don’t notice or care that the various boats and fishing nets near the bridge are non-functional set decoration. I expect after this trip Hoi An will stand out as the part of Vietnam least like the rest. And maybe the most photogenic:

Waterfront Sunset

The weather was great, like Southern California in the spring. Cool overcast mornings, breeze and sun from mid morning on. Warm enough for shorts and t-shirts but cool enough to not get very sweaty while cruising on a one speed bike. Nights meant long sleeves and long pants for most. The weather reminded me of home.

Tomorrow is a 45min taxi ride to Da Nang where I’ll catch a train to Hue.
