Two hour waits are common to get through an immigration line at the international airport in Bangkok. Through a combination of luck and planning my arrival times I spent less than 20 minutes in line on each the last two international trips. Two tips to help make the experience less of a pain, regardless of line length:
- Pee before the plane lands. Airliners usually start to descend several minutes before the seat belts light goes on. As a former pilot I notice the change and head for the bathroom.
- The passport control booths have stations for two workers. Don’t pick a line with one worker. It’s easy to see if there are two agents in the front row of booths, not as apparent for the back row.
