Take a Walk on the Wild Side in Mae Hong Son

I didn’t. No access restrictions, no warning signs, nothing to stop me from crossing the bridge except common sense. Gotta love a country that leaves such decisions to the individual and doesn’t let him sue if the adventure ends in a hospital.

This page has a photo of a guy on the bridge (search page for ‘Bridge 3’). His comment: ‘Quite scary’. The photo’s EXIF data shows the photo was taken in 2004 and the bridge in much better condition.

I was the peace corps engineer who helped build this back in 1982. It was pretty cool then – and the highway bridge to the north hadn’t been constructed.
Believe it or not, Tom Hanks made his movie, “volunteers” (about a PC engineer building a suspension bridge in NE thailand) about a year after this bridge was built. Pretty sure the scriptwriter got the idea from us.
