Traveling by Motorbike on the Mae Hong Son Loop

It didn’t happen. There were 1/2 day trips. One burned almost 3 litres of petrol but don’t know how man kilometres I covered. The after effects of two long day rides convinced me that riding between towns instead of taking a bus would be foolish. A half an hour on a single cylinder 125cc vibrator in the form of a motorbike made my butt and upper hamstrings complain and my hands tingle. Walking afterwards both hurt and made the pain go away. Grasping a familiar object like camera or water bottle gave it an unfamiliar feeling.

The good news is my post ride fatigue was much less after the second long ride. How long does it take to become accustomed to the bike so that a 100 km (60 mile) ride is possible? Don’t know. I plan on doing some 1/2 day rides just outside of Chiang Mai, so we’ll see how the body adapts.
