Yesterday was the annual celebration of HM the King’s coronation in 1950. Seemed like the crowds of yellow shirted Thais waiting for the motorcade to pass could be a photogenic. As usual, there was nothing in English about schedule. I took a guess and headed out after a late breakfast.
For once the town was full and the main road wasn’t. View to the south.
Looking north, the road is blocked to foot traffic at the south boundary of the palace.
The Bangkok Post said there were 1500 police in town, mostly to handle traffic. The Army also was on display.
About 10 minutes after I arrived at this spot, Army guy began playing his bugle. Does that mean …
Yes. The motorcade slowly pulled out for a trip up and down the main road. Middle seat, left side is HM the King.
The people cheered and waved 2 flags, the flag of Thailand and the King’s flag.
Then they walked home happy.
