Low Typhoon Risk in Dumaguete

The island of Luzon, where Manila is located, has been hammered by two typhoons leaving 900+ dead and hundreds of thousands still homeless. A third typhoon is expected to make landfall late Wednesday.

Most expats live in the Visayas region. One of it’s advantages is the low frequency of typhoons. Dumaguete is marked by the red X on the map.

That big southern island with the very low risk of typhoons has other risks, namely that Abu Sayyaf and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (AKA M.I.L.F.) Islamic terrorists groups operate there.

Yep, I’m immature enough to wonder if any of the members of M.I.L.F. attended the Central Luzon Institute of Technology. Unfortunately the school changed it’s name to Central Luzon College of Science and Technology (CELTECH) before I could get one of their T-shirts.
